How to Claim SSS Sickness Benefit: Step-by-Step (2026)
The SSS Sickness Benefit is a daily cash allowance paid to a member for the number of days they are unable to work due to sickness or injury. This guide covers the 2026 requirements and the online filing process.
Eligibility Requirements
- Contributions: You must have paid at least three (3) months of SSS contributions within the 12-month period immediately before the semester of your sickness/injury.
- Duration: You must be confined at home or in a hospital for at least four (4) days.
- Company Leaves: You must have exhausted all your current company sick leaves with pay (for employed members).
- Notification: You must have notified your employer (if employed) or the SSS directly (if self-employed/voluntary) within the prescribed period.
How it is Computed
The daily sickness allowance is 90% of your Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC). It is payable for a maximum of 120 days in one calendar year.
Example: If your MSC is ₱30,000 for the last 6 highest months:
Total = ₱180,000
ADSC = ₱180,000 ÷ 180 days = ₱1,000/day
Sickness Allowance = 90% of ₱1,000 = ₱900 per day
